Demanding better for Hamstead, Great Barr, Yew Tree, and Tame Bridge. Learn more

Sandwell Lib Dem Chair, Mark Smith, joined other Great Barr residents and campaigners who spoke at a Public Inquiry into a Planning appeal at the Council House, in mid July. This resulted in the developer’s appeal being dismissed. This was a victory for local residents and protection of the Green Belt. You can read the full reasons for the decision here.
You can read Mark’s comments submitted to the Inquiry, here.
Importance of Peak House Farm as a Wildlife Corridor
Mark and others will be submitting comments to the Council about their handling of the Inquiry. Despite winning their case, the Council were not helpful towards local residents who went to the Inquiry and were speaking in support of the Council’s original refusal to grant planning permission.
We would like to thank the dozens of local residents who submitted comments to the Inquiry, the Beacon Action Group for leading the campaign, and the local Councillor and newly elected MP who also spoke at the Inquiry.
