Have your say on plans for Peak House Farm

by Mark Smith on 5 May, 2024

Developer, Wain Estates Ltd, have appealed against the Council’s decision to refuse permission for its plans to build on Peak House Farm farmland. This will now be decided by a Public Inquiry. The inquiry will start on Tuesday 9 July 2024, and is scheduled to last for six days. However, any comments on or objections to the plans must be sent to the Inspector by Thursday 16 May.
Below are some details of the plans, and some suggestions for comments that you can send, if you want to object.

Wain’s plans are outline plans to build 150 houses on the edge of the farmland, facing the Birmingham Road. It would see 3-story houses built along the Birmingham Road border, with 2 1/2- and two-storey houses behind Peak House Road. Access would be via a single road on to Wilderness Lane, between Peak House Road and near the Sycamore Road junction. (These are tentative plans, and we suspect the developer will bring forward more detailed proposals were it to win its appeal, and there is no guarantee they would limit the number of houses to 150. It is quite likely they will ask for more houses, to make the proposal “viable“.) This is why it is important that local residents have their say if they support the Planning Officers’ decision to refuse this under their designated powers.

You can also submit comments via the Appeals Casework Portal, below, but we know some people had problems submitting comments via Sandwell’s Planning Portal.
