Demanding better for Hamstead, Great Barr, Yew Tree, and Tame Bridge. Learn more

Planning for the Commonwealth Games in 2022 seems to be completely being mishandled by Birmingham City Council. They continue to insist that they will proceed with the demolition of the Perry Barr flyover, near One Stop in Perry Barr, which will cause horrendous traffic problems in Great Barr.
This is despite the fact that they have now abandoned plans to house athletes in what had been intended as the Athletes’ Village, but will now be glorified Council housing, which had been the excuse for rushing the demolition through. It seems an utter shambles, especially as it is still not certain that the Games will go ahead as scheduled, given the possible need for some form of social distancing to still be needed.
